One of the most common questions we are asked is whether Next Path is a financial advisor, a financial planner, or something else. Next Path is something else. We build and document the Financial System a household uses day-to-day. The work gives clients a strong financial foundation for the present.
The Different Roles
Financial Advisors
A financial advisor holds the licensing required to recommend and sell financial products and manages investments for a fee tied to the assets under their care. The work prepares the household’s financial portfolio for the future.
Financial Planners
A financial planner builds a strategy across retirement, tax, insurance, and estate, delivered through a bank, an investment firm, or an independent fee-only practice. The work covers what the household needs over the years and decades to come.
Next Path Financial
Next Path builds and documents the Financial System a household uses day to day, a complete record of the accounts, contacts, strategy, and priority actions that run the household’s financial life. The work supports the household in the present.
Next Path Financial and Financial Experts
Financial advisors and financial planners prepare the household for the future. They adjust investments to the right level of risk, build a retirement strategy, and prepare an estate plan that provides for the family. Next Path works in the present, on what the household needs today: knowing how to log in to each account, when the next bill is due, who holds the will, where the insurance policy is filed, and who to call when circumstances change. We work with our clients to document the Financial System already in place, or to build one as they navigate a major transition such as the loss of a spouse, a divorce, or a family member’s serious illness or decline.
Conclusion
Planning for the future matters, and so does the work of managing the present. When the present is organized, the long-term strategy can move forward, and the household has what it needs when circumstances change.
